Current Opportunities

The ACE (Animation Career EXCELerator) Program is a training program designed to advance the careers of those identifying as women and non-binary animation professionals into key creative roles in the animation industry.    As part of the program, each cohort gains hands-on experience through the creation of a short film.   

 

This year's cohort is currently seeking a the following roles work on an independent short film, being produced as part of the ACE program:

POSITION: Animator, 2D

​

SERVICES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Animating in Toon Boom Harmony

  • Work with Animation Director to follow short style

  • Animate sequences from Key Animation to Final Animation following provided storyboards with 2 rounds of revisions

  • Animate in line with References/Concept & Design Bible

  • Meet and deliver to deadlines provided by Animation Director and Production as assigned in Flow

  • Take on notes from the Animation Director and Director and make revisions until approved

  • Participate in department meetings/reviews as required

  • Use naming conventions provided

  • Share ideas, collaborate and work closely with the animation team.

DELIVERABLES: 

  • Toon Boom Harmony project file

  • Exported MOV of final as uploaded to Flow

​

COMPENSATION: 

Compensation for this role will be offered as an honorarium of $12.50/second for animation completed in recognition of your time and contribution.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in 2D puppet-style (rigged) animation

  • Experience using ToonBoom Harmony

  • Experience with Flow (formerly Shotgrid/Shotgun) an asset

  • Experience with hand-drawn animation an asset

POSITION: 2D Harmony FX Supervisor

​

Bloom House Productions is seeking a 2D Harmony FX Supervisor to work on an independent short film, being produced as part of the ACE Program.

 

WHAT IS THE ACE Program?

The Animation Career Excelerator (ACE CANADA) Society is a training program designed to advance the careers of those identifying as women and non-binary animation professionals into key creative roles in the animation industry. As part of the program, each cohort gains hands-on

experience through the creation of a short film.

SERVICES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in Blue Book preparation meeting

  • Interpret and breakdown animatic to create and establish look for FX of the animated short film

  • Lead and guide a small team of 2D Harmony FX Artists to milestones set by production

  • Create FX using Harmony on a sequence of shots within the production schedule

  • Work with production to formulate a plan to achieve deliverables, create efficiencies and flag potential holdups

  • Assign and then review all shots prior to presenting to Animation Director, Art Director, Director and Production

  • Participate in department meetings/reviews as required

  • Share ideas, collaborate and work with all departments as a team

  • Use naming conventions provided

  • Create motion graphics for opening title sequence


DELIVERABLES: 

Exported final Harmony FX files rendered as per pipeline


COMPENSATION

This is a volunteer opportunity.  An honourarium of $500 CAD will be offered in recognition of your time and contribution.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in 2D animation, specifically FX Department

  • Experience using ToonBoom Harmony

  • Previous experience as a 2D FX Supervisor or Lead an asset

  • Experience with Flow (formerly Shotgrid/Shotgun) an asset
