Women in Animation’s Vancouver Chapter (WIA Vancouver), a non-profit organization in the global animation industry, is in its third iteration of the ACE (Animation Career EXCELerator) Program, with Netflix Canada as the premier sponsor. The program is designed to advance the careers of women in the animation industry by giving them a key credit in the creation of their very own project.
Working on a completely original animated short film that will be submitted to festivals around the world, the ACE 3 team are looking for part-time freelance artists for the following positions:
PROP DESIGNER
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Take on notes from the art director and director and make any revisions needed
-
Create turnarounds and expressions from existing approved designs
-
Design props (sketches through final line and colour) for a 2D animated production as needed
-
Work within the style guide and colour script and provide a finished, clean and coloured design
-
Work efficiently and within the established workflow
-
Participate in department meetings as required
-
Meet deadlines as assigned by production
-
Share ideas, collaborate and work closely with all members of the design team
-
Use naming conventions provided
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
-
Experience with illustration and 2D character and/or prop designs
-
Strong visual skills and attention to detail
-
Strong drawing skills and sense of design, character, and composition
-
Ability to take direction and work independently
-
A great attitude and a team player
-
Passionate about working in animation and building their portfolio

Confidence with Adobe Photoshop
-
Currently a permanent resident or citizen of Canada

2D HARMONY BUILDS ARTIST
RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with and take direction from the Builds Supervisor to create and revise characters and prop builds

Innovate creative solutions to troubleshoot problems

Create efficient builds for animation

Experience using Toonboom Harmony as a builds artist

Strong visual skills and attention to detail

Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn
